The Maharashtra State Revenue Department has recently issued a transformative Gazette notification on 28^thAugust 2024 that allows property owners in Mumbai to register their properties at any sub-registrar office within the Mumbai city & Mumbai Sub urban covered under BMC jurisdiction. They will no longer be identified as Mumbai-Fort, Mumbai-Andheri, Mumbai-Kurla etc, but will be simply identified as Mumbai city and Mumbai suburban. This is done only for property in BMC’s jurisdiction. This move is set to simplify the registration process, reduce congestion at popular offices, and offer greater convenience to citizens.
